Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, endorsed Donald Trump in July and is now using his financial resources to support the former president’s bid for the White House.
At a campaign event in Butler, Pennsylvania, on October 5, Musk appeared alongside Republican presidential nominee Trump. Over the past three months, Musk has contributed approximately $75 million to a political organization he established to back Trump, who is running for president again in 2024. This spending, disclosed in a federal report on Tuesday, highlights Musk’s significant role in Trump’s campaign as he aims to defeat Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in the upcoming election.
Musk’s actions also reflect the ongoing power of wealthy donors in U.S. politics. In an interview with right-wing commentator Tucker Carlson earlier this month, Musk explained that he formed the group, a political action committee (PAC), to promote “the core values that I believe in.” Named the America PAC, the organization emphasizes values such as secure borders, responsible spending, safe cities, a fair justice system, free speech, and the right to self-defense.
