Israel conducts airstrikes on Lebanon and Gaza, claiming a drone targeted Netanyahu’s residence.

On October 16, Israel’s government reported that a drone targeted Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s home in Caesarea, though he and his wife were not present, and no injuries were reported. This incident comes amid ongoing clashes with Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza, following the assassination of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, who orchestrated last year’s attacks on Israel.

Israel’s military stated that around 180 projectiles were launched from Lebanon, leading to retaliatory airstrikes on Hezbollah positions and other targets. In northern Israel, a man was killed by shrapnel from a rocket, with several others injured. Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon reportedly resulted in multiple fatalities, including the mayor of a nearby village.

In Gaza, Israeli forces conducted extensive strikes, including on hospitals, resulting in significant casualties, with over 42,000 Palestinians reported dead since the conflict escalated. The fighting has displaced over a million people, exacerbating an already dire humanitarian situation.

Hezbollah has ramped up its attacks, while Israel has indicated it will continue military operations until hostages taken by Hamas are released. The conflict remains tense, with both sides showing no signs of de-escalation. The situation has raised international concerns about a potential wider war in the region.
