Football-loving Nigerians using GoTV faced frustration on Tuesday night when multiple channels suddenly disappeared, including all sports channels.
This outage prompted many customers to demand compensation from Multichoice, GoTV’s parent company, according to Dogmareports. Fans were eager to watch their favorite clubs in the Champions League, but channels like SS BLITZ Africa, SS Football Africa, and ESPN were among those that vanished.
In addition to the sports channels, several others, including M-Net Movies 4, Africa Magic, and CNN International, also went offline and had not been restored by the time of reporting.
Investigations revealed that the Intelsat 33e satellite, which services parts of Africa and beyond, suffered a severe power failure on Saturday, leading to the widespread disruption.
