PTI’s Salman Akram Raja Urges Bail for Founder, Rejects Deal Speculations

Salman Akram Raja, a prominent leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), recently called for similar legal treatment for PTI’s founder in his cases, following the recent court decision to grant bail to Bushra Bibi. Speaking to the media in Islamabad, Raja asserted that the PTI’s founder also deserves fair consideration and bail in light of the current legal precedents. According to Raja, actions carried out within the framework of the law should not be misconstrued as part of any political “deal” or compromise. “There is no deal, and nothing of substance in these cases,” he emphasized, pointing out the difficulties he’s faced, including being booked in seven terrorism cases within a span of just three weeks.

Addressing speculation surrounding a possible shift in Pakistan’s political landscape, a journalist questioned Raja about the rumors that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Bilawal Bhutto might be positioned to become the next Prime Minister, potentially with PTI’s founder’s support. In response, Raja categorically denied any intention of the PTI leadership to back undemocratic actions or arrangements. He stressed that the PTI’s direction and decisions remain aligned with the democratic will of the people. Raja reaffirmed that the PTI remains steadfast in its commitment to uphold democratic principles and to represent the popular mandate favoring the PTI and its founder, adding that they are not willing to act against the public’s democratic choice under any circumstances.
