Here’s a question every small creator asks themselves while scrolling past someone else’s viral clip – “Am I even big enough for this platform to care about me?”
G.U. Abraham, Xilolo’s visionary founder got asked that exact question in a recent video and his answer wasn’t the polite non-answer you would expect from a founder trying to be nice to everyone. He said “NO” and then backed it up with something more interesting than reassurance. “Some of the people quietly making the most money on Xilolo right now are not big names at all. They are small creators nobody outside their own corner of the internet would recognize and they are pulling in real numbers anyway”.
Why? Because none of this is about reach. It never really was. A million views is a nice screenshot, but it means nothing if not one of those million people would actually pay for anything. What matters is whether your audience is loyal enough to swipe a card when you ask, follower count stops mattering much, a smaller crowd that pays will beat a bigger crowd that just watches every single time, Abraham says.
He went further answering questions from his own community and this time the filter got sharper. Xilolo isn’t chasing the loudest accounts or the ones farming views for the sake of it. It’s for creators whose community will actually pay for the value they are putting out. He is not shy about who that rules out the “follow my page, tap the screen” crowd doing engagement so called influencers, instead of offering anything real, that’s not who this is for and he says as much without much sugarcoating.
What it comes down to in his own framing, is almost annoyingly simple, have something worth paying for and sell it to people who will actually pay. Everything else, he suggests, sorts itself out from there.
Which is honestly a relief if you’re a smaller creator wondering whether you have “made it” enough to bother. The real question was never your follower count. It’s whether the people already following you would open their wallets if you asked them to? If yes? you were always big enough.
